Mr. Bell Weekly Newsletter for 1/28

In this email: Conferences have begun, WGVU visit, Half Day on Friday and Healthy Snacks!
 
❄❄ Please watch the weather and WOODTV 8 this week as winter will be hitting us hard for updates on school. I will do my best to communicate to via email and Bloomz if school closes. ❄❄

This Week:
Half day on Friday, February 1st!
ELA: We will wrapping up our poetry unit this week.
Science: Students will continue their unit on Geology.
It Takes a Village:
Conferences: Parent/Teacher/Students conference sign ups have begun. For our winter conference all students are required to attend the conference with a parent or guardian. We will be discussing student progress so far this year and will be setting goals for the up coming NWEA test in February. You can sign up for a conference time on Bloomz or by emailing me with a preferred time. I will be holding conferences before and after school most days beginning January 25 through February 1.  PLEASE SIGN UP AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! I want to meet with everyone! 
 
WGVU Visit on Wednesday: Local PBS, WGVU will be visit our class on Wednesday morning at 9:00 am to film and will also be providing donuts and juice for our class! To be on camera students will need to have the wavier form signed that was sent home last week. If you have any questions please let me know!
 
Healthy Snacks: We are a healthy snacks classroom, please send healthy snack options with you students each day. Please include fruits, vegetables, pretzels, crackers, animal crackers, etc. We have an early snack time because our our late lunch time, healthy snacks will help give your student the energy to make it through the day. Takis, hot fries, candies and cookies will not be allowed for snack time. 
 
Homework: Just a reminder that homework is always sent home on the first day of school week and is due the last day of the school week. Currently the only hard copy I am sending home is spelling, students are encouraged to read 20 minutes each night and study their vocabulary cards. Homework is always posted on my classroom website by Sunday at 5:00pm for the up coming week. www.waitforthebell.com
 
Needed Items: We are currently in need of glue sticks, Kleenex and disinfecting wipes.

Mr. Bell out on Thursday: I will be at training in Lansing on Thursday for an Equity in STEM education team that I am now serving on. Mrs. Lashonda Stewart will be covering my class that day. Please remind your student to treat Mrs. Stewart the same as they would any other educator in our classroom.
